As the temperature and weather gets cold, your skin's circulation decreases, as does the amount of sebum (oil) it produces. This causes your skin to become less supple and dryer, so it's critical to incorporate skincare products tailored to your skin's specific needs during the winter.

Luckily, there are some winter skincare tricks that can help us save our winter skin to help reduce the flaky, tight and dry skin.

This might seem overwhelming and lots of steps but do not worry because by following these step by step you will begin to feel more confident with your skincare routine. However do feel free to remove a few steps if necessary.

First, let's start off with a morning routine.

Morning Routine

Step 1: Only use water to wash your face.

Water not only refreshes your skin, but it also removes impurities that may have accumulated on your face during the night. It also keeps your skin moisturised.

When you wake up, wash your face with water. No cleanser should be used.

Step 2: Apply toner

Your skin's pH can be balanced with the benefit of a toner.

You can either pour the toner into your hands and lightly pat it over your face, or dab it on a cotton swab and apply it in a sweeping motion.

Step 3: Apply a serum

Serums work best for anti-aging benefits and can help with skin problems like dryness, fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation.

With your fingertips, gently pat a pea-sized amount of serum (or two pumps) over your entire face.

Step 4: Apply moisturiser

Moisturiser keeps skin nourished, hydrated and radiant all day long.

Use a cream-based moisturiser if you have dry skin and a water-based moisturiser if you have oily skin. Gently rub the moisturiser into your face and neck.

Step 5: (most importantly) After finishing all of these steps, use sunscreen.

It helps prevent dark spots, tanning, sunburn, fine lines and wrinkles.

Ensure to use sunscreen with at least 50++ SPF.

However, if you want to level up your Korean skincare routine, make sure to add a facial oil after moisturiser or an ampoule after serum and eye cream before SPF.

Night Routine

Step 1 : Use a cleansing oil to cleanse

Using a cleansing oil helps you thoroughly clean your skin by combining the oil and dirt.

Your face and neck should be thoroughly massaged with the oil. Use a wet cotton cloth to wipe your face. Your skin's dirt and makeup are clearly visible.

Step 2: Cleanse (twice) with a gentle foaming cleanser

Use a mild foaming cleanser to clean your face after you've oil-cleaned it and taken off all of your makeup and debris. To create lather or foam, pour some cleanser onto your palm, add water and rub your palms together. Use it on your face and then rinse it off.

Step 3: Exfoliate (only twice a week)

Exfoliation assists in removing impurities and dead skin cells from your face. This promotes cell regeneration and evens out skin tone.

You can exfoliate your skin using a physical exfoliator (scrub) or a chemical exfoliant to apply into a cotton pad.

Step 4: Use toner

You will need a toner to maintain the pH levels of your facial skin.

Step 5: Apply essence

Essence should always be applied after toner. Never skip this step because your skin needs the essence to stay hydrated all night. You can apply the essence onto the palm of your hands and then apply it to your face.

Step 6: Use a serum

After you have applied the ampoule, apply serum on the specific areas of concern.

Step 7: Apply Ampoule

Your skin will be able to regenerate and replenish itself throughout the course of the night thanks to the product's powerful ingredients and active agents.

Apply an ampoule immediately onto your palms and then apply onto your face after moisturising your face with the essence.

Step 8 : Put on a sheet mask

Depending on your skin's needs, they offer specific benefits like collagen-boosting, anti-aging, anti-acne, deep hydration, and anti-acne effects.

Serum, containing essential active ingredients, is thoroughly soaked into the sheet masks. For every type of skin, you may find a suitable option available.

After using the sheet mask on your face, you can also apply the excess liquid to your neck and body.

Step 9: Put on eye cream

Apply an eye cream using your ring finger to keep the delicate skin around your eyes hydrated and nourished.

Step 10: Apply a moisturiser

This step helps your skin absorb all the ingredients throughout the night and also helps the skin seal in the ingredients. Your skin will be supple and soft when you awake.

Although it's vital to protect your skin by using products, do not forget that you must work on yourself internally such as drinking lots of water, getting enough sleep and eating well as it will help to repair your skin and provides a rich supplement of antioxidants. Also, do not forget to apply sunscreen everyday no matter the weather.
